Intervention Teaching Assistant - Science
Grade 6, 30 hours per week,
39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days)
Salary £15,451 - £17,442 per annum
The Whitby High School is a highly successful 11-18 foundation school with 1600 students on roll including a thriving sixth form. This popular, oversubscribed school places the achievement of all learners as a priority.
Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant (Science/general intervention) to plan and deliver interventions which impact directly on student performance. The successful candidates will liaise with the Senior Curriculum Leader of Science and the Study Support Centre Manager to ensure the most efficient use of resources and deployment of interventions. Duties involve leading small group or 1:1 interventions with students either in a classroom setting or outside of the classroom. The post holders will also be responsible for tracking progress and monitoring the impact of interventions. The successful candidates will be confident in their subject knowledge and have the ability to move students forward with their learning at an appropriate level.
This post would be suitable for a science graduate or someone with an interest and/or experience of supporting students in these subjects. Proficiency in the use of ICT to support learning and the ability to use a wide range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students is essential. Experience of working with students in a teaching/tutor role would be an advantage. All necessary training will be provided for the successful candidates. Applicants must have experience of an educational setting and have achieved a minimum of NVQ Level 3, (or equivalent) along with GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (or equivalent).
