We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and engaging members of staff to take on the roles of Independent Travel Trainer.

Independent Travel Training is managed by Dorin Park School on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council.  It supports children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities to travel a specific route on their own in a safe and responsible way. 

Working under the direction of the service co-ordinator, the trainers will work on a one-to-one basis with each student.  Every training programme is bespoke and carefully tailored to each individual.  Sessions incorporate; journey planning, road safety skills, personal safety skills and public transport skills.

The successful applicants will have:

  • Experience of working with children and adults with additional needs
  • Independent Travel Training qualification, or willingness to obtain
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agencies
  • Organisation and time management skills
  • Computing skills and the ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Good level of written English
  • Commitment to improving the life skills and confidence of the service users
