Two roles as a Teaching Assistant with SEN responsibility
Grade 5. 17 hours per week, 38 weeks a year.
Role 1: 17 hours a week Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday morning
Role 2: 17 hours a week Wednesday afternoon/Thursday/Friday
Actual salary range: £7,372
Contract Start date: 1st September 2020.
Contract end date: when funding or the need for extra assistance is no longer required.
We are looking for two Teaching Assistant who has recent and relevant experience of working with children with SEN as well as demonstrating excellent general practice within the classroom. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, have high expectations and the ability to work flexibly.
You will be working with a two KS1 children in the same classroom, hence the split of 17 hours at the start of the week and 17 hours at the end. The role will include supporting and developing focussed learning activities tailored to the individuals needs and contributing to the development of planning and resources to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
You will be required to supervise the activities of the individual, as well as groups of pupils both in and out of the classroom, including in particular, transition times during the day around school, to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills. They will need specific experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD) and an understanding of sensory needs, including social and emotional support would be of huge benefit. Experience with speech, language and communication support is also preferred. A firm but supportive approach is required, with the intuition to know when to provide independence versus support. First aid and Team Teach qualified would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
A key part of the role is to liaise with parents and outside agencies in conjunction with the teaching staff to ensure effective communication concerning the pupils' development and wellbeing.
