Teacher of English

Main Scale - Full time – Temporary for 1 year

The Governors are inviting applications from experienced or newly qualified teachers of English. At The County High School, Leftwich, there is a strong tradition of high quality induction and continuing professional development so the post can be adapted to suit an entrant new to the profession or a colleague with recent experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic English teacher who will inspire and motivate students to succeed at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This post is suitable for an NQT, RQT or someone who is looking to take a first step into a leadership role. A strong desire to motivate students and staff to achieve excellent progress is crucial in an environment in which “Pupils display a thirst for learning” and there is “…first-rate behaviour in classrooms and around the academy” (Ofsted, 2016).

The County High School, Leftwich is in a formal partnership with Sir John Deane’s College, a local outstanding 6th Form College with a tradition of high academic performance, as part of The Sir John Brunner Foundation. Sir John Deane’s College, with a Level 3 VA score of +0.53, is the leading 6th Form College in the country. The successful candidate will therefore have an opportunity to experience A-Level provision if desired.

The Progress 8 Score of +0.80 places The County High School, Leftwich in the top 2% of schools nationally for student progress. For the previous 4 years, progress has been at least ‘Above Average’.
